Why attend a workshop on rest?

When I was suffering from burnout, it used to confuse me that I could get a good 8 hours of sleep a night, but still feel totally exhausted. 

Surely with that much sleep I should be jumping out of bed in the morning and be ready to go and seize the day? But instead, I would wake up feeling so tired, and in fact like I’d not slept at all. And I seemed to feel like this no matter how much I slept! 

And then I came across the work of Dr Saundra Dalton-Smith who talks about the different types of rest all human beings need in order to fully recharge their batteries, and it was revolutionary to me!

I realised that physical rest was only one type of rest we needed, and actually I was severely lacking in some of the other types of rest, which explained why I was still feeling completely drained. It was clear that I needed to tune into the rest areas that I was neglecting, and prioritise these. And sure enough, after a little while, I began to feel so much better and I noticed my energy levels increase.

And so, as we head into summer, I am running a workshop all about getting the right type of rest. This season tends to be surprisingly busy as we juggle work and an increase in social events - whether that be festivals, weekends away, weddings, or trying to keep the kids entertained during their summer break! 

I’ll be sharing more about the different types of rest we need, as well as helping you to identify which rest areas might need some more time dedicated to it, allowing you to have a summer that you can really enjoy.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is perfect for you if:

  • You’re feeling drained at the moment, and like your tank is running on empty 

  • You’re getting a good amount of sleep but still waking up feeling like you’ve hardly slept

  • You’re fed up of feeling depleted and want to be able to enjoy the here and now, instead of thinking about when you can head back to bed

  • You’re looking ahead at your summer plans and are worried about how you’re going to find the energy to do it all

  • You want some dedicated time to reflect on how you’re using your time to recharge your batteries

  • You are looking for some pointers on small steps you can take to create a life that makes you feel good and where you can thrive

The workshop is happening online (via Zoom) on Wednesday 19th June at 7pm.

How does it work?

The workshop will be held on Zoom and you are welcome to have your camera on or off. You can participate as much or as little as you'd like - there will be a reflective activity which you can keep to yourself, or if you want to share what's coming up for you then you'll be very welcome to do that too.

If you can't make it live, the workshop is being recorded and you will receive the playback to watch in your own time.
